Since 2000, Coto Academy has helped more than 15,000 learners not only study Japanese but also fall in love with the language. What began as a small volunteer class has grown into a global community trusted by residents, expats, and working professionals across Tokyo and Yokohama.

Today, we are proud to announce the most significant milestone in our journey: the opening of Coto Japanese Institute.

This is more than just a new campus. For the first time, Coto is launching a visa-eligible language school, officially accredited by the Ministry of Education (MEXT). This allows us to sponsor student visas, enabling ambitious learners and professionals from around the world to begin their Japanese journey directly from overseas.

Why “Institute”?

The name reflects our commitment to depth and growth. While Coto is famous for flexible conversation lessons, Coto Japanese Institute is built to be a foundation for long-term success. For our brand-new campus, we chose Kokubunji, a prestigious academic hub in West Tokyo. The facility itself is designed to inspire:

Course Overview

While we offer both long-term and short-term options, we encourage students to take full advantage of our long-term study to ensure career success and sustained progress. Our standard long-term program is one year, with options to extend based on your goals.

1. Practical Japanese & Career Readiness

This one-year curriculum progresses from beginner to intermediate levels. It is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in the Japanese skills needed for daily life, gradually building your vocabulary, confidence, and real-world communication skills.

2. Advanced Japanese Communication & Career Growth

Designed for learners aiming for professional settings, this course focuses on real-life applications. You will prepare for the JLPT while refining complex grammar and strengthening the practical communication skills required for the Japanese workplace.
